International High School at Union Square

Gramercy, Manhattan

Project snapshot

Immigrant Youth Empowerment (IYP) convenes student-led workshops and discussions that analyze intersections of patriarchy, white supremacy, and racism to advance reproductive justice, LGBTQ+ rights, disability justice, and immigrant protections. Programming includes curricula on immigration history, Black and Indigenous solidarity, sex education, and the school-to-prison pipeline, combined with leadership development and community organizing. By equipping undocumented and allied students with critical analysis, advocacy skills, and community-building, the project reduces institutional vulnerability and builds safer, equitable schools and pathways to civic participation.
