Project snapshot

Musart is focused on building a better community through art. To do this, they are introducing a steel band program with classes taught by Big Brothers/Sister role model Teaching Artists from the Caribbean community. The classes will teach students how to construct and play steel drums, as well as important performance and history rudiments of the Steelpan makers and performers. This program aims to instill knowledge of who we are, our cultural heritage, and what we have done in the Steelpan history. Musart is creating a valuable learning opportunity, connecting people to their culture, and providing a meaningful art experience for all involved.
