Project snapshot
O2NYC designs and deploys low-cost ($50–$60) air quality sensors measuring PM2.5, PM10, humidity, pressure, and temperature, uploading live data to an open-source map that aggregates other community and agency feeds. Sensors are assembled and distributed free through community workshops and college partnerships, coupled with educational materials and hands-on training. The project empowers underserved neighborhoods with real-time air quality data to inform health decisions, civic advocacy, and environmental justice.
