Project snapshot
Raised Pinay is working to provide a space for healing, decolonization, and ceremony for Pinay (Filipina) mothers through storytelling. By combining devised theatre and the women’s unique lived experiences, they are exploring their legacies of mothering in order to decolonize parenting; honor dead and living legacies; and guide their relationship with their descendants toward pathways of healing, justice, and liberation. Through this project, Pinay mothers are coming to terms with their ancestral trauma through a creative medium that will eventually culminate in an original performance piece intended to educate the community on the importance of decolonization.
