Project snapshot

The Bridge Directory is developing a community-led certification program—the Bridge Doula Certification Pathway—that establishes a standardized, community-defined competency framework, assessment instruments, and verification processes to credential doulas based on lived experience and cultural practices. The program legitimizes non‑institutional knowledge, facilitates institutional recognition and reimbursement pathways, and protects economic sustainability of doulas. Rooted in reproductive justice and equity, it reduces barriers to hospital partnerships and public contracting while preserving traditional caregiving lineages.
