Project snapshot

West 123rd St Community Garden Inc. has two beehives, which were both educational and popular, especially among children and school groups. After our beekeeper moved away with the hives, we decided to bring bees back. This initiative will reintroduce honey production, with proceeds benefiting our non-profit garden. A core group, including experienced beekeeper Christian Volkmann and eager gardeners, will care for the bees, ensuring their health and productivity. The bees will inspire more community projects, such as candle making and textile arts, enriching our neighborhood’s diverse, intergenerational fabric with joy and educational opportunities.
